Steam mop wood floors – What's with the stripes and spots?

I have 800 square feet of freshly painted wood floor. I use a cane to collect cat hair, dust and the like, but I need some way to clean dirt and so that it adheres to the surface. My uncle told me to mix a little soil dishwashing soap and water in a spray bottle, lightly Spay a cotton cloth and use it to clean the floors. I tried a couple of times, but that is a bit much work for me. So I've been researching steam mops, Bissell and a focus on shark models. Most online surveys are positive, but I see some complaints of stretch marks and / or water spots. Anyone know if this is common or what can be done to prevent it? My floors are honey-colored and have satin polyurethane on them so that even when clean, is not high gloss, if that matters. If another wood floor safe choice, I'd love to hear it!

going to try the real local value and get a bottle of Bona wood cleaner. comes in a kit with a spray bottle and mop. I leave one in all my work when finished. costs about $ 20 and is very easy. all you have to do is spray a little on the floor and take the fastest type of scan through it. I would not use a steam mop a wood floor that could put too much moisture in the wood and cause problems.
