How do you feel about older houses when looking to buy.?
My husband and I are 1st time buyers disputing over 2 houses. (No kids or plans of them, just us) They are both similar in that, both are newly remodeled w/hardwood, granite, stainless appls., fixtures etc… But, there is a price difference of $7,000. The older one, built in 1966 (my preference) costs more and has a smaller backyard (which a backyard is important to us). However, it is 300 sq ft larger, has bigger beds, baths, and closets for storage than the one built approx. 84-86, my husbands preference. The 80′s home has small baths, where it is consecutive: single sink, no counter space, a toilet, and tub. No place for towels, brushes, anything really! And that’s the master bath too! I need my bathrooms and storage space, he says he needs his backyard!! What do we do?!?
He is also complaing about the age of the older one, but the 80′s home.. foundation, wireing, and plumbing could be just as bad or worse!! The 60′s one has a new A/C and H2O heater too!!
Obviously, neither house is the ‘right’ one. Keep looking, you will find the one that is perfect for both of you. There are plenty to choose from!
(I prefer older, experienced homes and small easy to maintain yards).
