Has the smoking ban unveiled more than health issues?
I went into a pub today
I hadn’t been in for years
The fixtures and fittings remained the same
as well the choice of beers.
The beer mats and the bar towels too,
it all just seemed so right.
But a scan across the room revealed
not ONE ash-tray in sight!
Where were these icons of my youth
in pot or glass or tin
the sculpted out receptacles
we put our rubbish in
For it wasn’t just the smokers
with their dog-ends and their butts
We’d fill them with our scrunched up packs
when we’d polished off our nuts ;¬)
But now the doors revolve all day
as smokers come and go
they let the cold air filter in
and raise the gas bill so.
So for some things the fags are missed
the pipes, even cigars
They hid the smell where someone p*****
the B.O. and the farts.
HA!
Good one!!! The smoke also hid the not-so-prettiness of the patrons. Everybody looks good in smoke and candlelight!
This is rich!!
