Identifying the source of moisture / humidity smell in the house?
I live in a 50-year-old ranch house on a concrete slab in a slightly humid climate, at least in the summer time. Often when it rains (but not always limited to) there is a damp, musty smell that permeates the entire house. The odor exists if the windows are closed or not. They also have laminate flooring throughout except for ceramic tiles in the bathroom. The apartment is new (the previous owners, less than three years old) and set to the blue line, the foam between the slab and soil. What can be causing this? There are moments when the odor is not present, ie, the winter season. The best way I can describe the smell is similar to an outdoor public baths found in parks and such. No smell of waste and not so strong but that is the best comparison I can do. Any ides of what can be, and the possible solutions? Thanks in advance.
check your drains could be sewer gases up them. or it could be moisture coming through the plate under his house.you could get in the cop and the stamp on everything and see if it stops smell
