As a parent or older family member, how to give a child / young adult advice, will listen and respect?
I check I myself have been on both sides of the coin and have seen many and the hatred and the adolescents and young adults in the family are harassed and emotionally crushed by adults feeling that they are doing "the best", giving advice in a negative way that leads people who are advising distance. Aka, you're too young to buy a car, or getting married. Or this school is right for you, you are not interested in going to … Any ideas on the subject?
I would like listen and see why they want to make the decisions they make. Having heard and recognize that side validation. Then he asked for instance, that his thinking about these things? So I offered what you mean! I would say how much I value and understand what they are saying and I hope they appreciate what you said as something to consider. Let them know you respect them and care deeply about and will always be there if you need to talk. Leave the door open! Good luck!
